Operations and Surveillance Operations Managers, have asked the company to expand the scope of the Manager, Surveillance & Ops EA to include them.

Since April, our Union has been trying to work with the company to resolve any technical issues around this and have invited the company to commence bargaining on several occasions.

The company has failed workers, and is needlessly obstructing workers’ clear right to pursue bargaining via an EBA, causing needless delay to the bargaining process.

Now we are speaking up and contacting senior management to stop delaying, stop obstructing workers’ clear right to bargain, and get on with the process.

Dear Steve
I am a Crown Melbourne staff member covered by the 2018 Manager&Surveillance EBA.
My contribution to Crown is critical. The work of my colleagues has been vital to achieving the success of Crown in the past. My colleagues and I are Crown.
I am proud of the work that I do at Crown and the standard to which I perform my duties. And I am supported in these achievements by being able to negotiate my pay and conditions through the EBA process, which provides me agency, certainty and security in an increasingly insecure and changing world.
I am frustrated to learn that the Company is still refusing to afford the same agency, certainty and security to my colleagues in Gaming Machines Area Managers, Surveillance Operations Managers, IT Operations and Riverside Service Executives. My Union Bargaining Team have attended three meetings with senior HR and General Managers where we are seeking agreement from your Company to add our colleagues to our EBA. This is a decision we have democratically considered, and frankly it is not an overwhelming ask considering it is less than 100 workers.
I am particularly frustrated, given your most recent video where you ask me to work with you to rebuild trust and confidence in Crown; you reference the need to work with staff and the broader community, and; you talk about Crown values. The Company’s own human rights and industrial relations policy references freedom of association and the rights of workers to bargain. And yet, your HR and GM representatives in bargaining have little more to say than “the EA used to only cover Table Games Area Managers” and you basically just don’t want to reach agreement on the issue.
Workers have the right to bargain for our pay and conditions, and to join and fully participate in our Union.
We call on you to live the Crown values that you talk about in your videos – do the right thing and support our colleagues to join our EBA.

I currently have no agency, certainty, nor security in my ongoing pay and conditions. Yet, I am a vital piece of the puzzle to rebuild trust and confidence in Crown.

Dear Steve
I am writing to you to show my support for my colleagues in Gaming Machines Area Managers, Surveillance Operations Managers, IT Operations and Riverside Service Executives.
I am, frankly, disappointed and surprised to discover the Company is obstructing the rights of some ~100 of my colleagues to seek agency, certainty and security in their pay and conditions through the EBA process. This is particularly disappointing in light of the Company’s own humans rights and industrial relations comments about supporting freedom of association, the right to bargain, and participation in our Union.
I am also disappointed to learn that the Company’s “reasoning” behind this is essentially it used to be an EBA that only covered Table Games Area Managers. That has not been true for quite some time, and is disrespectful to the other groups whose pay and conditions are governed by this Agreement.
At Crown, we have been successful for some 25 years, and we will quickly rebuild the success of the Company, because we work as one team, to one purpose. We provide the best possible standard of service not by dividing and ignoring sections of our workplace community – but by being and acting together. Nowhere do we do this better or more clearly than being Union.
We will act together in our Union team to this purpose – supporting and endorsing our colleagues’ right to bargain for a fair EBA and to achieve that same agency, certainty and security already enjoyed by thousands of Crown staff.
Do the right thing and support our colleagues to join the EBA.
