At our recent Climate Action Group meetings, members asked for United Workers Union to host a climate science workshop for members.

We’ve arranged a workshop with Dr Lesley Hughes from the Climate Council on Tuesday August 17, 6:30-8:00pm (AEST).

This workshop will:

  • Provide an opportunity to get together as Union members who are concerned about and impacted by climate change.
  • Help us better understand the basics of climate science
  • Provide an update on what the climate science says in 2021 and what this means for workers and communities in Australia
  • Identify key areas for action – both in reducing emissions and preparing our places of work and our communities to maintain our safety and quality of life as the impacts of climate change become more serious.
  • Provide a space and opportunity for members to collectively discuss what this means for us, our workplaces and our communities.

Please RSVP below.

If you would like to help reach out to members of our Climate Action Group about this event, we’re planning an outreach session you can take part in on July 30.

We’ll train you in using a tool called “ThruText” so you can make direct contact with other members of our UWU Climate Action Group. This will be a simple and fun session that lasts for about 2 hours, including training.

The outreach session will run from 10:30am to 12:30pm on Friday July 30.

If you’d like more info or to take part in the outreach session, please contact Luke via email.

Climate justice is union business! By becoming a member and taking action we can secure climate justice for all working people.
